Slogans like BRIAN EATS MARMITE and BING CROSBY WAS HERE, were common place in Brian's home town of Greenwich during the 70s. There was a plethora of like minded juggernauts carving a niche around town in them heady days. With at least one electric band to every street in the UK. Music was and always will be top of the agenda for creative go-ins on. Brian plugged in with the best of them, and never looked back until un-beknown to him, a strange moment of curiosity loomed in front of him;- it was a call to submit a biog for THE LIFE OF BRIAN web-site (.com). Well, what could he say in as few words as possible, without boring the Y-fonts off even his closest pals? Lets say he got into a band almost days after learning his first few licks, and steadily built up a repertoire that pundits could relate immediately to, across every dance floor you could put in front of him. Armed with but a simple electric guitar and an amplifier already behind payments on the never never, he single-handedly took to the club scene along with his mates , who did exactly the same thing! Meanwhile around 4000 years later he (alone of course) along with his great friends- Paul on drums, and Dave the rave on bass later to be joined by Miranda on vocals, carried on that tradition of performing music- extremely live stuff of course, on a demand come serve basis.Years of technical demands from famous names such as; Kate Bush, Roy Harper, Pete Gabriel, Albert Lee, 1960s through to 1990s pop acts, did not dampen this mans enthusiasm,so, here we go- lets get on with the gig, and goodnight to one and all. Dear friends, he loves you all.
Miranda, the latest addition to the band, joined the guys in 2007 to ensure right and proper behavior was demonstrated throughout the band - in hindsight a challenge probably too large to have taken on! Armed with a mic and a tambourine she entertains the audience with her powerful rocky bluesy vocals and great vocal harmonies. Singing songs by the Pretenders, Anastasia, K T Tunstall and many more, her being in an ever so slightly younger age group has brought a modern and different slant to the ever popular material the Life of Brian Band perform.
Because of his aristocratic upbringing and subsequent inheritance of the herbertage, Lord Geering found it difficult to join a band, probably because he was no good. None the less, he persevered with the aid of copious amounts of mainly legal substances and years of confusing his Lochrians with his Phrygians. He eventually joined the band after losing a guiness drinking bet with Brian.
That's Rock and Roll!!
I was not inspired to play drums by Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello's Drummer), who didnt live up the road from me. He did not show me the basics. I was not a founder member of Squeeze, nor did I play on any recordings, or any early college tours. I did not record and gig with Pete Perrett (The Only Ones) and I did not record with Bernie Torme and John McCoy (ex Gillan, Black Sabbath). I also did not have to leave Samson after a tragic motor cycle accident.
I refuse to believe the allegation that I played on the Dolls top 20 hit Desire Me. I did not work with various producers, particularly not Muff Winwood and Mick Glossop.
To say I was a founder member of Haunted Staircase who recorded the highly collectable single 'Flutters' is absolutely ridiculous.
I did not do various sessions in most of the top London studios. I do not know Brian, Dave or Miranda. I've never heard of the Life of Brian Band. This is not my photograph... in fact.... I dont know who I am!!!
